On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
With the GreenBuilding, GreenLight and Motor Challenge Programmes the European Commission operates voluntarily commitment schemes with the aim to increase energy efficiency in non-residential buildings, nonresidential lighting and motors used in industrial processes. By the end of 2011 the total of more than 1,000 Partners were registered.

Since 2007 the Code of Conduct has been dormant because the levels were the same as the mandatory levels under the Ecodesign measure. As DOE in the US is revising the EPS mandatory standard, participants called for a possible harmonization of requirements.
