On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
This report provides guidelines on how thermal electricity generation installations and industrial installations can carry out a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) in order to assess whether the use of high-efficiency cogeneration, the connection to a district heating or cooling network or other means of waste heat recovery would be cost-effective.

This peer-review paper presents a new mathematical approach to the diffusion of energy efficient technologies using the diffusion of natural processes as an analogy. This approach is applied to the diffusion of the electric arc furnace in Japan. The main advantage offered by the new approach, is the incorporation of an average effect of barriers to, and support measures for, innovation.

Financing
Three broad options for financing energy efficiency improvements can be distinguished.
ESCO financing refers to financing with internal funds of the ESCO and may involve own capital or equipment lease. ESCO rarely use equity for financing, as this options limits their capability of implementing projects on a sustainable basis;

Transport and Mobility
The ontological complexity of the transportation system makes it challenging to accurately predict the effect of policies or measures. Therefore it is very difficult to design (socially) optimal solutions addressing inefficiencies inherent to the transportation system. The main origin of this complexity lies in its interaction with human behaviour. A clear example is Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
