On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
This report provides guidelines on how thermal electricity generation installations and industrial installations can carry out a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) in order to assess whether the use of high-efficiency cogeneration, the connection to a district heating or cooling network or other means of waste heat recovery would be cost-effective.

This peer-review paper presents a new mathematical approach to the diffusion of energy efficient technologies using the diffusion of natural processes as an analogy. This approach is applied to the diffusion of the electric arc furnace in Japan. The main advantage offered by the new approach, is the incorporation of an average effect of barriers to, and support measures for, innovation.
