On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
Energy at the Researchers' Night in Varese
The Renewables and Energy Efficiency unit of the Institute for Energy and Transport of the JRC was present with two activities:
How much energy do you need to switch on a light?
An installation was prepared with a bike that was powering two different kind of lamps: incandescent lamps and a LED lamp. With the same effort the LED lamp was producing much more light.
The energy needed to produce food.
The video prepared for Expo on energy needs of the food chain was presented.
The Researchers' Night was a valuable opportunity to discuss with the wider public about energy efficiency and energy needs in the food chain.
