On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
One-Stop Shops in the EU: current and future role in building renovation
One-stop-shops (OSS) are transparent and easily accessible advisory tools from the clients’ perspective; and innovative business models from the suppliers’ perspective.
An OSS overcomes the market fragmentation on both the demand side and the supply side by offering holistic, whole-value-chain renovation solutions.
One-stop-shops have been advocated by the European Commission through the “Smart financing for smart buildings” initiative and through the “new” EPBD as part of the Directive 2018/844/EU. According to the latter, “Member States are required to facilitate access to appropriate mechanisms for accessible and transparent advisory tools, such as one-stop-shops for consumers and energy advisory services, on relevant energy efficiency renovations and financing instruments.
