On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
GreenBuilding Programme
The GreenBuilding Programme reached its 8th year of activity and has now achieved its original target of collecting data from over 1000 buildings. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) has therefore decided to close down the GreenBuilding Programme by 1st of October 2014.
From now onwards, we will focus on Positive Energy Buildings to support the implementation of the EPBD recast.
We would like to thank once again all programme participants for their invaluable engagement.

In 2005 the European Commission launched the GreenBuilding Programme (GBP). GreenBuilding is a voluntary programme aiming at improving the energy efficiency of non-residential buildings in Europe on voluntary basis. The programme addresses owners of non-residential buildings to realise cost-effective measures which enhance the energy efficiency of their buildings in one or more technical services. The programme covers both existing and new buildings.
In a number of participating countries, a so called GreenBuilding National Contact Point (NCP) is established for aiding organisations who consider participation in GreenBuilding (see the NCPs). In countries where no NCP is established, the Joint Research Centre assists the potential participant.
The GreenBuilding Programme is managed by the Joint Research Centre. For more information contact us.
