On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
Monitoring building-related actions in the Covenant of Mayors
The presentation gives an overview of the Covenant of Mayors initiatives and its main elements (Baseline Emissions Inventories - BEI, Sustainable Energy Action Plans - SEAP, Monitoring Emissions Inventories- MEI).
It presents the analysis of the share of buildings in the emission inventories of the Covenant of Mayors' signatories (approx. 40%) and the role of building-related actions planned to reduce CO2 emissions. Overall buildings-related actions (in residential, municipal and tertiary buildings) together with industry-related actions will contribute by 44% to the GHG emissions reduction in the territories of the signatories and they will reduce by 53% the final energy consumption.
