At the EEDAL'15 conference 128 papers dealing with energy consumption and energy efficiency improvements for the residential sector have been presented. Papers focused policies and programmes, technologies and consumer behaviour. Special focus was on standards and labels, demand response and smart meters. All the paper s have been peer reviewed by experts in the sector.

This book contains the proceedings of the 9th International Conference Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings and Smart Communities which took place in Frankfurt, Germany 16-18 March 2016.

The implementation of energy efficiency policies is challenging, and the full potential of energy efficiency is far from realised, for financial, behavioural and regulatory reasons. Obstacles include high upfront investment costs, access to finance, lack of information, split incentives and rebound effects.

Expectations are that broadband equipment will contribute considerably to the electricity consumption of households in European Community in the near future. 

The potential new electrical load represented by this equipment needs to be addressed by EU energy and environmental policies. It is important that the electrical efficiency of broadband equipment is maximised.

This Code of Conduct sets out the basic principles to be followed by all parties involved in Uninterruptible Power Systems, operating in the European Community in respect of energy efficient equipment.
