On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.
Resource Efficiency = Energy Efficiency + Material Efficiency
Energy efficiency (of building, of products) have been at the heart of many policy and research activities in the last years and much improvement has been achieved. Other issues related to material efficiency, (including supply and use of raw materials, management of residual waste, re-use, etc.) are now gaining in interest, in the same sectors. All these issues are not conflicting and they have to be addressed in an integrated way and taking a life cycle perspective, in order to achieve a resource-efficient Europe.
