On 5 April 2016 the JRC presented the interactive and collaborative online European Energy Efficiency Platform. This beta platform is conceived to fill the gap opened by scattered data and fragmented knowledge resulting from a rapidly growing energy efficiency market. It is expected to be both a one-stop shop for information retrieval and a meeting point for experts to exchange data and reduce redundant activities.

The European Climate and Energy package foresees a substantial reduction of energy consumptions in buildings by 2020. The implementation of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (nZEBs) as the building target from 2018 onwards represents one of the biggest challenges to increase energy savings and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

This report provides results of analysis of data for 2009 and 2010 provided by signatories of the EU ICT Code of Conduct for Broadband equipment V2 and V3.
Since data on V2 was provided by one signatory per year only, this data will not be reported. Most data was provided for 2010 for V3; therefore the analysis will concentrate on this data.

The purpose of this project is to develop an econometric model aimed at estimating the impact of energy efficiency policies on energy consumption in the EU Member States in the period 1990-2013. The aim of the models is to answer three core research questions: 1. Are EU and national energy efficiency policies effective in reducing aggregate energy consumption?

In line with the Energy Union strategy, the EU 2030 climate and energy policy framework sees energy saving as Europe’s first fuel in 2030. Making energy efficiency the mechanism for delivering moderation of demand will enable the EU to meet its objectives in terms of security of supply, climate change, jobs, growth and competitiveness.

This report aims at showing the present status of energy consumption in EU-28, in the four main energy consuming sectors : Residential, tertiary, transport and industry. During the last years, there have been efforts by the European Union to cut down on energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. From 2000-2012, there have been various initiatives that aim at reducing final energy consumption.

Since its inception in 1981, ACEEE has produced a wide variety of reports and assessments focused on energy efficiency as a low-cost, reliable alternative to our nation's growing energy demands. This report departs from ACEEE's traditional focus on energy efficiency as a resource and instead frames efficiency as an invisible powerhouse and an underappreciated investment opportunity.

We argue that a primary focus on energy efficiency may not be sufficient to slow (and ultimately reverse) the growth in total energy consumption and carbon emissions. Instead, policy makers need to return to an earlier emphasis on “conservation,” with energy efficiency seen as a means rather than an end in itself.

The concept of sufficiency has a long history, related as it is to the timeless issues of how best to distribute and use resources. Where energy is concerned, absolute reductions in demand are increasingly seen as necessary in response to climate change and energy security concerns. There is an acknowledgement that, collectively if not individually, humans have gone beyond safe limits in their use of fuels.
